Boston Public Library w. The Larksplitters

  • Boston Public Library (map)

Join us for this performance as part of our Friday lunchtime concerts that feature local musicians playing a range of genres. This concert is also part of our Revolutionary Art programmatic theme.

Born out of the Irish Session culture of Boston, MA, The Larksplitters duo take their name from the Emily Dickinson poem that starts with the line “Split the lark and you’ll find the music.” Composed of Helen Kuhar on DADGAD guitar and Gwen Johnston on Fiddle, the pair love to delve into Old-Time, Bluegrass, Breton, contemporary, and original tunes in addition to their roots in Traditional Irish tunes and songs. While you won’t see them splitting any larks, they find joy in the sad songs and tunes of old and new and will save them for your ears.
